Getting started
ATH brings device measurements, workout results and your own observations into a local record that you and your agent can work from.
Set up with your agent
Give this prompt to an agent that can read the web and run commands in your chosen folder. It will follow the ATH setup guide and install the bundled agent skill. If your agent cannot run commands, follow the steps below.
Ask your agentread https://ath.fit/SKILL.md and follow the instructions to set up ath and its agent skill for me
Install ATH
You need Node.js 20 or newer. Install the LTS release from nodejs.org, then open Terminal on macOS or PowerShell on Windows.
Checked 27 September 2026: v0.4.3 is available on npm.
$npm install -g athleticstandard$ath --versionCreate your record
Create a folder named ath-yourname, such as ath-mike or ath-jill. Replace ath-mike in the example below with your own folder name. Run subsequent commands from that folder.
Name, birth year and sex are optional. Press Enter to skip any of them. ATH creates athlete.ath.json with a starter set of benchmarks.
$mkdir ath-mike$cd ath-mike$ath initPut something in it
Import a watch export, or log a result. ATH previews a logged entry before asking you to save it.
$ath import ~/Downloads/export.zip$ath log Fran in 4:41 rx$ath statsKeep it together
Your ath-mike folder contains athlete.ath.json and a neighbouring series/ directory for dense measurements. Keep the whole folder together when you back up or move your data.
Keep it on your machine or in your own cloud storage. ATH needs access to the folder; it does not provide hosting or automatic synchronization. If global installation is unavailable, use npx athleticstandard in place of ath.
Update ATH
With v0.4.2 or newer installed, run ath --update from your ath folder. It updates a global installation with the package manager you used and refreshes the skill here if a copy already exists.
On an older version, rerun your original install command to get the latest published version, then run ath skill install from your ath folder.
$ath --version
